I really like the second one. I think it's the disjointed last line that does it for me.
I love, love, love the first one. The juxtaposition of the traditional "arms race" language with all the hoopla about Michelle and her exposed appendages was very clever. It's made even more clever with the play centering on the polysemy of "race."
